A representative of local MPP Will Bouma met with the team at Child Hunger Brantford as they celebrated their organization’s 16th anniversary, as well as the impact of a $106,000 Grow grant they received from the provincial government’s Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF) on Tuesday, October 7, 2025.
“I am pleased that Child Hunger Brantford will receive $106,000 grant over 2 years to expand their Kids Lunch Club from five to nine schools,” said Will Bouma, MPP for Brantford-Brant. “This will help address more vulnerable families to meet children’s nutritional needs. Well done on the grant writing and successful OTF application.”
Awarded in March of 2025, the funding supported the expansion of the organization’s Kids Lunch Clubs from five to nine participating schools. This is helping ensure that children in Brantford who experience food insecurity have consistent access to healthy lunches and snacks throughout the school year.
Child Hunger Brantford also proudly maintains the Prince Charles Park Community Garden in partnership with Equal Grounds Community Gardens and the Prince Charles Neighbourhood Association, led by President Chris Tolhurst. The garden not only provides fresh produce but also serves as a space for community learning and engagement.
“This celebration is not only about the grant; it’s about the community that makes our work possible,” said Dawn Hall, Founder of Child Hunger Brantford. “We are honoured to serve Brantford for 16 years and look forward to growing our impact with continued community and provincial support.”
