Celebrating five years of Read 4 BCHS event

Local NewsCelebrating five years of Read 4 BCHS event

The Brant Community Healthcare System (BCHS) Foundation launched its fifth annual Read4BCHS event, a  fundraiser in support of local pediatric care, on Monday, February 5, 2024.

“Over the past four years, with the support of our sponsors, readers and donors, we have raised over $100,000  to benefit the care of the youngest patients at the Brant Community Healthcare System” said Dr. Lee Ferrao,  BCHS Foundation Board Chair. “These funds have helped to purchase pediatric equipment and renovate the  Pediatric Acute Referral Service (PARS) Clinic at the Brantford General Hospital, which sees over 3,000 visits  annually.”

“The BCHS Foundation is truly fortunate to have the James F. Boughner Foundation as a continuing matching  sponsor for the event” added Kari Wilson, Executive Director of the BCHS Foundation. “This means that every dollar you donate to Read4BCHS has twice the impact.”

The event runs from February 5 through 25, 2024 and participants are asked to sign up online, collect pledges  and commit to read for an amount of time, chosen by the individual participant or team.

“Everyone is invited to have fun reading while helping pediatric patients” explained Heather Wilson, BCHS  Foundation past Chair and Read4BCHS committee member. “Reading takes us to all sorts of amazing places  and connects us to new ideas and friends” continues Wilson, “and, thanks to our prize sponsor Tim Hortons at  the BCHS, there are also great prizes to be won including iPads and playground recreation equipment.”
