Brantford Police received a call from a concerned citizen to advise of a possible impaired driver in the area of Shellard Lane and Diana Avenue on Saturday, March 26, 2022

The vehicle was observed swerving between lanes and passengers were throwing items out of the moving vehicle.

Officers attended and located the vehicle at the intersection of Colborne Street West and Oak Street where a traffic stop was initiated. A male driver and two female passengers were observed within the vehicle. Speaking with the driver, officers observed signs of impairment.

Subsequently, the driver was arrested for impaired operation and submitted to a roadside breathalyzer test demand, which he failed.   

The accused was transported to provide samples of his breath as required by law. Both samples were over the legal limit.
Information received indicated the accused was a prohibited driver and in violation of a valid probation order.

As a result, a 25-year-old man from Burlington stands charged with the following:

  • Operation while impaired, contrary to the Criminal Code 
  • Operation while impaired – plus 80, contrary to the Criminal Code 
  • Breach of probation, contrary to the Criminal Code
  • Drive while under suspension, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act
