Local NewsBrantford to offer free Play in the Park program

City of Brantford has partnered with Sun Life Centre for Healthy Communities, and local neighbourhood associations to bring the community a free Play in the Park program this spring.

Everyone is welcome to participate in high energy games, fun sports, team-building exercises and much more. These activities will take place at Brantford park locations in the East Ward Echo Place, West Brant and Downtown Central neighbourhoods on Saturdays from April 27 to June 15, 2024.

“We are excited to partner with the City of Brantford and local Neighbourhood Associations to offer an opportunity for kids, and their families and friends, to enjoy the fresh air, and stay active this spring,” said Nicole Vandermade, Manager, Sun Life Centre for Healthy Communities.

The Play in the Park team is excited to offer a variety of activities, including non-competitive sports, interactive games and more, all tailored to the interest of those attending and weather conditions. Everyone is welcome, however children ages six and under must be with a caregiver. Attendees are asked to dress according to the weather and to bring a water bottle to stay hydrated.

“We are thrilled to be able to continue to offer the Play in the Park program this spring. It’s a fantastic opportunity to get outside, connect with neighbours, and take full advantage of our city’s beautiful parks. We can’t wait to see you there,” added Maegen Rutten, City of Brantford’s Neighbourhood Program Coordinator.

This program is offered on Saturdays from April 27 to June 15, 2024 at the following locations:

·       Princess Anne Park (17 Helen Avenue) from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

·       Iroquois Park (19 Iroquois Street) from 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.

·       Central Park (143 George Street) from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

There is no program on May 18, 2024. For more information, call 519-759-4150 ext. 5070 or email neighbourhoodassociations@brantford.ca.
