Brantford now accepting applications for Culture Days

Arts and EntertainmentBrantford now accepting applications for Culture Days

The City of Brantford is now accepting applications from artists who would like to participate in Culture Days on the Trails, which will be happening on Saturday, September 23, 2023 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The City is looking for singers, dancers, poets, spoken word artists, musicians, theatre performers, or live painters to submit their proposal to showcase their skills on this year’s event.

Culture Days is a national celebration of arts and culture. At the end of each September, millions of people attend thousands of free in-person and online arts and culture events across the country. Culture Days programs invite the public to get hands-on and go behind-the-scenes to highlight the importance of arts and culture in our communities.

The City of Brantford will be hosting Culture Days on the Trails on Saturday, Sept. 23 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The rain date for the event will be Sunday, Sept. 24, 2023. The festivities will take place along the trail beginning at the Hardy Rd. parking lot and ending at Lafayette Ave., which runs behind Glenhyrst Art Gallery of Brant and the Brantford Golf and Country Club. Attendees will be invited to walk along the trail and enjoy several mini concerts and performances along the 2.6 km stretch.

“We’re very excited to host Culture Days on the Trails, and showcase the amazing talent that we have in Brantford,” said Adrienne Briggs, Arts and Culture Coordinator at the City of Brantford. “Culture Days promotes inclusivity, awareness, participation and engagement in arts and culture for all Canadians.”

“This event, which is free for anyone to attend, is a fantastic way to build community, and highlights that culture is for everyone.”

During the event, artists will be stationed outside along the trail to showcase their talents and will be paid $150 for the three-hour performance time.

Those interested in participating can learn more and submit an application online at: www.discoverbrantford.ca/culturedays. The deadline for submissions is July 26, 2023. Any questions about the Call for Artists may be directed to culture@brantford.ca.
