Brantford man charged with Impaired Driving

A concerned citizen contacted the Brantford Police Service to report a possible impaired driver in the area of Murray Street and Elgin Street at approximately 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 9.
A vehicle was reported to have driven off the road and was stuck in a snowbank. Officers attended the scene, located the vehicle and the driver. In speaking with the driver, officers observed signs of impairment.
The accused was transported in order to provide samples of his breath as required by law. Both samples provided were nearly three times the legal limit.
Additionally, the accused could not provide a valid permit for his vehicle.
As a result of the investigation, a 41-year-old man from Brantford stands charged with the following offences:

  • 80 Plus contrary to the Criminal Code
  • Operation While Impaired contrary to the Criminal Code  
  • Fail to Surrender Permit for Motor Vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act
Additionally, a license suspension was issued, and the vehicle impounded as per law.
