Brantford man caught smoking cannabis in drive-thru

On Sunday, February 6, 2022, at approximately 11:00 a.m., officers with the Brantford Police Service were dispatched to attend a report of a possible impaired driver.
 
A concerned citizen called 9-1-1 when a driver in a Colborne Street fast-food drive-thru lane was allegedly observed smoking cannabis while operating his vehicle.
Officers arrived on scene and located the suspect vehicle. In speaking with the driver, officers observed signs of intoxication. Drug paraphernalia was also observed within the vehicle.
As a result of the observations made by police, the accused was arrested for Operation while Impaired and transported to conduct a Drug Recognition Evaluation where it was determined that the accused’s ability to operate a vehicle was impaired.
As a result of the investigation a 33-year-old man from Brantford stands charged with:
  • Have care or control of a vehicle with cannabis readily available, contrary to the Cannabis Control Act
  • Operation while impaired, contrary to the Criminal Code
Additionally, a license suspension was issued, and the vehicle impounded as per law.
