Brantford Food Bank to host golf tournament for first time since 2020

Brantford Food BankBrantford Food Bank to host golf tournament for first time since 2020

Brantford Food Bank’s annual golf tournament is returning after two years of pandemic restrictions, and it will take place at The Oaks of St. George on September 22.

“We couldn’t be more thrilled to be able to connect with our supporters and community. So excited in fact, that we have updated the event with a new name: “Drive Out Hunger” because that is exactly what we are aiming to do with the support of our community,” said the Food Bank, in a press release.

Many families rely on the Brantford Food Bank for food while we rely on community members to support our operation. The number of people that have turned to emergency food support has increased significantly since the start of the pandemic. When compared to June 2020, the number of visits in June 2022 increased by 69%.

Our emergency food program serves 1,800 people on average per month and with the addition of our distribution program Community Food Share, we reach nearly 5,000 people per month.

“We were fortunate to benefit from COVID-19 response-related funding while our tournament was on hold over the past 2 years. However, now that the COVID-19 response has dimmed so has funding. We’ve returned to leaning on initiatives like our golf tournament to support a much higher number of clients.”

There are many ways the community can support us in this event. The cost is $150 per golfer and includes the cart, 18 holes, games, prizes, lunch & dinner. To learn more about sponsorship, donations, and golfer registration visit www.brantfordfoodbank.com or email info@crs-help.ca.
