Mayor Kevin Davis will assume partial responsibilities as CAO

While the municipality continues their search for a new Chief Administrative Officer, the City of Brantford announced an interim management plan on Tuesday, March 14, 2023.

Under this plan, Kevin Davis, Mayor for the City of Brantford, will take on a more active role as Chief Executive Officer of the municipality, working very closely with the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) to advance the business of the City, and continue moving key priorities forward, while recruitment of the CAO position remains underway.

The interim plan will also see Inderjit (Indie) Hans and Joelle Daniels oversee enhanced portfolios in the role of Deputy CAO.

A passionate and experienced leader, Hans has over 16 years of municipal engineering experience and has held Public Works positions in Operations and Maintenance, Development Engineering, Capital Planning, and most recently as the City’s General Manager of Public Works since 2020. In the role of Deputy CAO/General Manager, Hans’ portfolio of responsibility will include all Public Works departments, Brantford Fire and Economic Development, Tourism, and Cultural Initiatives.

Hans is a graduate of the Civil Engineering Program at the University of Toronto, a Licensed Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) and a certified Project Management Professional (PMP). He also has extensive large urban centre experience in transportation planning, design and construction, and employee and public engagement.

Also, effective today, Joelle Daniels will take on the role of Deputy CAO/Acting General Manager, People, Legislated Services and Planning (PLSP) where her portfolio includes PLSP Departments, Finance, and Communications, Community Engagement and Customer Service.

Daniels began her career with the City of Brantford in 1994 and diligently worked her way through the ranks of the Finance Department in various roles, most recently in the position of Director of Finance since 2017 and Director of Finance/Treasurer since 2020.

Daniels holds a designation as a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA, CGA) and recently completed her Executive Diploma in Municipal Management during which she was asked to have her Research Report submission published in accredited finance industry journals.

As part of the senior management interim plan, Aaron Wallace, Acting General Manager, Community Services and Social Development and Sasha Hill Smith, Manager of Government Relations & Corporate Initiatives will report directly to Mayor Kevin Davis.
