Local NewsBrantford and Lynden residents to share $100,000

Derek Johnston of Brantford and Mark Johnston of Lynden matched the last six of seven ENCORE numbers in exact order in the May 9, 2023 LOTTO MAX draw to win $100,000.

Derek and Mark, who work in the printing industry together, always send each other pictures of their tickets and jokingly say, ‘Is this the winning ticket?’

Derek says he discovered their big win after checking their ticket on the OLG App.

“I was shocked but happy,” he shared, while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to pick up their winnings. “I texted Mark to tell him about the win and he didn’t answer. His wife had to wake him up!”

The pair said their families are very happy about their win. “Our coworkers want to know when the pizza party is,” laughed Derek.

Mark plans to pay some bills and buy a new lawn mower and Derek plans to purchase a new set of golf clubs.

The winning ticket was purchased at Good Luck Variety on Dunsdon Street in Brantford.
