Brant County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting proactive traffic patrols at approximately 6:27 a.m. on Saturday, May 18, 2024.

The officer observed a driver travelling at 139 km/h in a posted 60 km/h zone, a flagrant violation of road safety.

The vehicle has been impounded for 14 days, and the 28-year-old driver’s license has been suspended for 30 days.

The driver is facing multiple charges including:

–      Stunt driving

–      Driving 50 km over the speed limit

–      Driving a motor vehicle with no currently validated permit

–      Failure to have an insurance card

This incident highlights the grave consequences of disregarding speed limits and failing to comply with legal requirements. We remind everyone to adhere to posted speed limits, prioritize safety, and ensure all necessary permits and documents are valid and accessible while driving. Speeding and non-compliance with legal requirements pose serious risks to all road users.
