Brant OPPBrant OPP charge impaired driver at RIDE checkpoint

Brant Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested an impaired driver at a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) checkpoint.

Members of Brant County OPP conducted a traffic stop to check the sobriety of the driver at a RIDE checkpoint on Hagan Road in Brant County at approximately 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 11, 2024.

After speaking with the driver, they were taken into custody without incident and transported to Brant Detachment for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, Blaine BOX, a 30-year-old from Brant County, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Driving motor vehicle with open container liquor

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Brantford on July 25, 2024.
