A 26-year-old from Cambridge is facing impaired driving and stunt driving charges after Brant County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) members stopped a vehicle while conducting proactive patrols in the County of Brant early Sunday morning.

Officers with the Brant County OPP were conducting proactive patrols on Brant Road in St. George when they located a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed at approximately 12:59 a.m. on Sunday June 18, 2023.

The vehicle was stopped after travelling more than 140 km/h in a posted 80 km/h zone. One person was arrested and transported to Brant County OPP detachment for testing.

Police have charged 26-year-old Bhavaman MAHAL, from Cambridge with the following offences:

·        Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus),

·        Speeding 50+ Km/h over posted limit,

·        Drive Motor Vehicle – Perform stunt – Excessive speed and

·        Possess more than one licence.

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice located in Brantford, Ontario at a later date.
