A dog owner has been charged following an investigation involving a dog bite.

Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Brant County Detachment and Brantford-Brant Emergency Medical Services responded to an animal complaint on Maple Avenue in the County of Brant at approximately 1:08 p.m. on Monday, September 2, 2024.

It was determined that at approximately 1:00 p.m., an individual was walking in the area and encountered two dogs. As a result of the interaction, the person sustained serious injuries and was transported to an area hospital.

 A 34-year-old from Brant County, was charged under the Dog Owner Liability Act with the following offence:

  • Owner of dog – fail to prevent dog from biting, attacking a person or domestic animal.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice located in Brantford at a later date.
