A driver had their licence suspended for 30-days and their vehicle impounded for 14-days after they were caught driving more than double the speed limit in a 50km/h zone.

An officer with the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Brant County detachment initiated a traffic stop on King George Road in the City of Brantford at approximately 10:48 p.m. on Wednesday November 1, 2023.

The officer was traveling through the area when they located a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed. The vehicle was stopped after travelling more than 100 km/h in a posted 50 km/h zone.

Police have charged a 21-year-old from Brantford with the following offences:

·        Drive Motor Vehicle – Perform Stunt – excessive speed and

·        Speeding – 50+km/h Over Posted Speed Limit.

The driver is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice located in Brantford at a later date.
