Barricaded person taken into custody without incident

Members of the Brant County detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), West Region Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU), West Region Emergency Response Team (ERT), and K-9, responded to a report of a barricaded person in the village of St. George.

OPP officers responded to a disturbance taking place at a single residential building located on Blue Lake Road at approximately 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 29, 2023.

The involved subject initially refused to exit the residence and was eventually apprehended by police without incident.

A 48-year-old individual from St. George, Brant County has been charged with the following, pursuant to the Criminal Code:

·        Careless Use of a Firearm

·        Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm

·        Careless Storage of a Firearm

The accused remains in custody pending a bail hearing at the Brantford Ontario Court of Justice.
