Autism Dog Services to host inaugural Eggstravaganza event

Autism Dog Services is preparing to host their first annual Easter Eggstravaganza event on Saturday, March 30, 2024.

“Autism Dog Services is egg-cited to host our very first Easter egg hunt and it is going to be a hopping good time for the entire family,” said Adele Alfano, Fund Development Manager for Autism Dog Services.

The Ancaster Optimist Youth Centre will be bursting at the seams with scattered eggs filled with trinkets throughout the area along with refreshments, kid crafts, face painter and a special guest appearance from the Easter Bunny. The price of admission is a cash donation to Autism Dog Services.

The event, which will begin at 10:00 a.m. and run until 1:00 p.m., is open to the public and organizers are encouraging families to gather up everyone for a great day of fun.

Participants can also meet some of the service dogs in training, along with puppy raisers.

“We continually need volunteer puppy raisers and we are currently experiencing a shortage of applications. It is a great way to find out who we are and how you can help out.”

“We are so excited to be able to offer this public event for fundraising. It has been a tough time for charities and we are no different. We do not charge a fee for our service dogs although they are valued at $25,000 – $30,000 and we receive no government funding,” added Vicky Spadoni, Executive Director for Autism Dog Services. “We are very thankful and appreciative to the Ancaster Optimist Youth Centre for hosting our event and we hope to make this a yearly event.”

The Ancaster Optimist Youth Centre  is located at 237 Manitou Way in Ancaster.
