Brant OPPNorfolk County man facing multiple charges after traffic stop

One person is facing impaired driving charges after Brant County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) members initiated a traffic stop Saturday evening in the County of Brant.

On Saturday December 3, 2022, at approximately 9:34 p.m., a Brant County OPP member was conducting traffic enforcement on Cockshutt Road near Oxbow Road.

The officer observed a vehicle at a high rate of speed and initiated a traffic stop. One person was arrested and transported to the Cambridge OPP detachment for testing.

Police have charged Scott Anthony DEWEERD, 32-years-of-age from Norfolk County with the following offences:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus),
  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs,
  • Driving motor vehicle with liquor readily available and
  • Speeding 1 – 49 Km/h over posted limit.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice located in Brantford, Ontario at a later date.
