Rec Room Revival was the featured act during the Music in the Park event on Sunday, August 15, 2026.
The monthly event, held at Chiefswood Park on Six Nations of the Grand River territory, has been running since May and Julie Clay, organizer of the event, said it will continue until September and then start again in May of next year, doubling the frequency to two events per month.
“This is an opportunity to get together for all of the campers that are here, as well as outside individuals that are interested in coming to the park and listening to some music,” Clay said.
Rec Room Revival, made up of Dan McDonald and Rob Richardson, performed music from the 1970’s, 80’s and 90’s over the course of the event. It was their first gig together after rehearsing rock, pop and country songs for half a year before deciding that Chiefswood park was the right place for them to start.
“This is Dan’s community, and it’s really our first gig, it’s the perfect place to connect with the community,” said Richardson. “The people here are awesome. Chiefswood Park is amazing and Julie’s been incredible.”
McDonald believed the show gave the duo a chance to reach a newer audience and, hopefully, build a following through their performance and social media.
Simon Wolfberg, along with his wife Sev Wolfberg and their kids, travelled from London, England, and were staying in one of the park’s cabins. Upon learning about the event in the park, they attended to enjoy the music and spend some time together as a family.
“It’s been really nostalgic,” said Sev. “All the music from this band has been from our childhood, from the ’80s. It’s been really lovely.”
Julieta Narvaez and her family said they learned about the event from the boat captain of their cruise they took the week before.
“We love that, very nice music, everything that we like,” said Narvaez. “It’s very much the music that we grew up with, so that’s very nice. We liked it.”
