For young rapper Felix Munce, music has always been a constant in his life, and with rap, it has elevated his creativity and a goal to develop a career in the entertainment world.
Beckie Munce, Felix’s mom, discussed the importance of music in the household.
“Music has always been a big part of our lives. Felix has always been around music, jams and concerts while his father is a musician as well, and plays lots of instruments. Felix started to sing, songwriting and play electric guitar…and then one day he just came to us and said: ‘I don’t want you to be upset about this, but I think that I want to start learning how to rap instead.’ He then just dove right into writing lyrics and looking for beats…and really never looked back at the rock and roll world, and moved into the rap world,” she said.
For Felix, who hails from St. George, there has been a known rapper that he has been inspired by as well as writing a song about his favourite baseball team.
“There’s this one clean Canadian rapper….his name is Connor Price. He’s my biggest inspiration…to start rapping. I used to listen to Eminem a lot, but then my mom didn’t really like that because of the language…so, one day she found Connor when she did a search online…he’s an independent artist [and] I started to listen to him and couldn’t stop. He has many good songs and has great lyrics…and then I tried to write positive songs myself. The second song I wrote is called Unbeatable, and it’s just about being awesome,” he said. “I’m also a huge Blue Jays fan…and combining two of my favorite things together (the Blue and rapping) was great [and] I think that’s my favourite song that I have written. The World Series run that the Blue Jays had was great, and it was a bit upsetting they lost. But I remember writing the song in the car on my way home from hockey. After writing and posting it…my mom woke me up one morning…that I was going to be interviewed because of The Blue Jay song.”

Beckie Munce further detailed the experience in writing the song, and it going viral.
“He wrote that song within 24 hours, recorded it the next day, and then we shot a video. So, within 48 hours he had that entire process done, because he wanted to get it out. Obviously, it was timely because of the World Series, and we had no idea it was going to blow up the way that it did. He was just excited to write something, and because he knows every stat and every fact about every Blue Jay player…it was so easy for him to incorporate that information into a song. And the next day my phone just blew up with all these people asking about the song and also asking if they could interview Felix,” she noted.
Nevertheless, Beckie Munce traced back to Price’s reaction to one of Felix’s videos.
“As a family, we try to keep our kids off of the screens and social media. So, I do manage all of Felix’s social media for him, and I certainly share with him messages that come in….At one point, Connor Price, liked one of Felix’s videos….then what really got the wheels in motion was when Connor’s mom actually reached out….complimenting Felix’s rap. She then asked: ‘Do you know my son Connor Price, the rapper?’ And we responded back saying he was Felix’s favorite rapper ever. Conner’s mom then told us that Felix reminded her a lot of her son…So she’s been following along our journey, and she actually follows my own personal account and we have been chatting here and there. And then she would offer our family six VIP tickets to his concert in Michigan…which we attended recently. Felix also had a chance to meet his idol…saying that he was doing amazing and to keep pushing…it was very inspiring,” she recounted.

For Felix, going to Michigan for the live show was an incredible experience.
“We got to go early….so we could see the sound check. We basically got to watch our own separate show. It was just so cool Connor go through songs…and seeing the whole process of what they do before they get on stage. It was really awesome. And then….meeting Connor was just mind-blowing…we got to go backstage after and meet him…it was such a great experience,” he said.
Felix recently had his first song posted to Spotify, while his mom continues to build his online presence.
“For a long time, Felix was asking me to get on Spotify, and I said, when you finish five songs, then I will look into what it takes to get on there. He’s done… almost ten songs now. And again, I’m learning as I go. And so, we released one song this week, and we’ll continue to release them every week…we’re also actively doing video work on our end…it’s certainly not my expertise so I’m always looking for people in the community…. who want to offer their area of expertise to help create some videos to then post on YouTube and TikTok,” she noted. “Then we have a few opportunities for Felix to go on stage including Duck Fest which is very exciting to perform in front of our community. And then he just made it through round one of the CNE Rising Star competition in Toronto. So, he’ll be performing in August for the preliminaries to see if he can make it through to the semis and the finals for that competition.”
However, the community has been very supportive of Felix’s start to his rap career.
“Many people have been very supportive….especially our circle of friends, and in our community. We get people all the time reaching out….celebrating what Felix has been able to do, and encouraging him and just keep pushing him forward. It’s also been great…where a lot of people have been connecting with us…[and] asking how they can get involved in helping Felix,” she noted.

Recently, Felix had a chance to perform at the third annual Tumor Take Down Fundraiser in May 2026 held in St. George.
“That was, that was probably my biggest audience, other than the Connor Price concert…that I performed at. It was a really good cause…and the people there were great. I performed a few songs that I wrote One was called Locked In and the other one was Grit. That’s the only one on Spotify I have on so far, but more will be there soon. And I also performed my first song I ever wrote…. called Making Games. It was such an awesome event,” he said.
However, Felix has been rapping under his stage name FlikitySplit, which was spawned from a nickname his friends had given him at school. But, going forward, he will be performing under his given name.
“After he rapped on stage at the concert with Connor…Connor and his wife took the time, pulling Felix aside to give him some advice. They talked about his stage name…they just said that FlikitySplit was very cute, but he was going to outgrow it…and they thought that his name Felix Munce is a cool name…with the initials are FM….it was like FM radio…and that he should roll with that. We’ve been working on rebranding Felix. We have a new logo [and] he just had a photo shoot recently,” she said. “The Price’s also said that Felix has the talent needed to get on Spotify…I then mentioned that we booked studio time…[in lieu of this]…they then sent Felix all new recording equipment including headphones and a new laptop, so that he could set up a home studio and do his recording more affordably which is incredible.”
Going forward, Felix has a few goals including a chance to one day record a full-length album.
“It’s really exciting when after the concert…a lot of people were chanting my name and asking for autographs…it was great and gave me a really good feeling. But I’m just going to keep on making songs and working hard at it. I definitely want to release an album which is one of my biggest goals [and] I just want to have do more shows and get more chances to perform. And I also want to reach more people with my songs. And now being on Spotify will help. Another big goal for me…is that I really want to do a collaboration with Connor Price in the future. That would be amazing,” he said.
