Members of the Brant County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) laid 218 charges during the Canada Day traffic campaign, with most charges laid for speeding.

The campaign, which ran from June 26, 2026 until July 5, 2026, highlighted the importance of lifesaving equipment like seatbelts, helmets and personal flotation devices. Police also focused education and enforcement efforts on discouraging unsafe driving behaviours, such as speeding, distracted driving and impaired driving. Brant County officers conducted 304 traffic stops during the campaign.

Brant County campaign results are below:

·        3 charges for Failure to Wear Seatbelt

·        17 charges for Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act

·        2 charges Criminal Code Traffic

·        100 charges other Highway Traffic 

·        3 charges for Impaired Driving

·        95 Traffic related Warnings
