Brant OPPBrant OPP charge Norfolk County resident with Assault

Members of the Brant County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to a disturbance report at a local business in Oakland, Ontario at approximately 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 24, 2026.

Upon arrival, officers spoke to the victim and investigated. As a result of the investigation, Brant County OPP arrested and charged Okan CANYURT, 37-years-old, from Norfolk County, with the following Criminal Code charges:

  • Assault with A Weapon,
  • Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose,
  • Mischief Under $ 5,000

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brantford on September 17, 2026, to answer to the charges.
