Will Bouma, MPP for Brantford-Brant, announced the Ontario government is investing up to $12,500,000.00 for Wastewater Treatment Plant Upgrade to UV Disinfection and Phosphorus Removal System in the City of Brantford on Friday, April 10, 2026.
The funding comes from the province’s Municipal Housing Infrastructure Program’s Health and Safety Water Stream (MHIP-HSWS), which has increased by $700 million for a total of $875 million to support access to safe drinking water, housing, job creation and protection for communities in the event of extreme weather events.
“I am pleased to be part of a government that supports municipal partners such as the City of Brantford to upgrade and safeguard one of the most important things in our lives: clean water” said Bouma. “This upgrade will not only secure clean drinking water, but enable new home construction and attract even more private sector investments and new jobs in our region”.
The MHIP-HSWS funding will be used in the City of Brantford to Upgrade to UV Disinfection and Phosphorus Removal System.

This funding is part of an investment of $four billion in the Municipal Housing Infrastructure Program (MHIP), included in Ontario’s $220 billion capital plan, the most ambitious in the province’s history, to build transit, highways, hospitals, schools and water infrastructure that enables new housing.
