City issues artist call for water reservoir mural

Local NewsCity issues artist call for water reservoir mural

City of Brantford is inviting artists to transform the east-facing wall of the City Water Reservoir facility with a new mural, visible from the Wayne Gretzky Parkway.

Eligible artists are invited to submit expressions of interest and qualifications through the online form at Brantford.ca/WaterReservoirMural by Friday, April 10, at 11:59 p.m.

The commissioned artist will be selected through an open, two-stage process. A selection panel made up of practicing arts professionals and community members will evaluate submissions based on established scoring criteria and panel deliberation. The total project budget is $35,000, inclusive of all associated costs, with installation of the mural planned for summer or early fall 2026.

This call is open to all professional artists who are eligible to work in Canada and live in Ontario, with special consideration given to local artists in the City of Brantford, the County of Brant, Six Nations of the Grand River, and Mississaugas of the Credit First Nations. Artist applications will be reviewed based on artistic excellence, expressed written interest in the site, and other professional qualification criteria. Proposals will not be considered during stage one of the selection process.

The deadline for submissions is Friday, April 10, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. Questions about the Artist Call may be directed to culture@brantford.ca until Monday, April 6, 2026, at 4:30 p.m. To learn more about the project, visit Brantford.ca/WaterReservoirMural.
