Mayor David Bailey, along with members of County of Brant Council and staff, attended the Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO) Conference in Ottawa from August 17 through August 20, 2025.
The annual event brought together municipalities from across the province and provided opportunities to hear from keynote speakers on issues shaping today’s municipal landscape, take part in workshops, and meet directly with provincial ministries to discuss matters important to the County of Brant.
“The AMO conference provides Council and staff with the opportunity to meet with other community leaders from across the province and share our experiences,” said Mayor Bailey. “It gives us the chance to collaborate on issues we are all facing – both the challenges and the successes.”
In attendance alongside Mayor Bailey, were Councillor David Miller and Councillor John MacAlpine, Chief Administrative Officer Alison Newton and General Manager of Operations David Mellor.
AMO provides the opportunity for Council and staff to attend delegation meetings, allowing them to engage with provincial leaders on local matters that are important to the County of Brant.
2025 Delegation meetings included:
• Delegation with the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services (Ontario Works).
• Delegation with the Ministry of Long-Term Care to discuss John Noble Home, Bell Court Project.
• Delegation with the Ministry of Infrastructure to discuss the Paris Wastewater Treatment Plant Expansion.
• Delegation with Minister of Transportation to discuss the Highway 403 and Bishopsgate Road Interchange.
The County also participated in advocacy sessions alongside the South-Central Ontario Region Economic Development Corporation (SCOR EDC) and the Western Ontario Warden’s Caucus (WOWC).
“Advocating for our residents at AMO is an important opportunity to ensure Brant’s priorities are heard by provincial leaders,” said Mayor David Bailey. “We are proud to represent our community and work toward solutions that improve quality of life for everyone in the County of Brant.”
