City of Brantford will be sending a delegation to the 2025 Association of Municipalities of Ontario’s (AMO) Conference in Ottawa from Sunday, August 17 through Wednesday, August 20, 2025.
The City’s delegation for this year’s conference includes: Mayor Kevin Davis, Deputy Mayor of External Relations and City Councillor Rose Sicoli, City Councillor Mandy Samwell, Fire Chief Todd Binkley and Sasha Hill-Smith, Manager of Government Relations and Corporate Initiatives.
The delegation will attend sessions and meet with various Ministers and provincial staff to advocate for key City priorities including advocacy to the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing to address housing supply and homelessness challenges and the Ministry of Transportation (MTO) to support Brantford’s Transit Plan, connections to GO Transit and other regional networks.
More than 2,000 participants from hundreds of municipalities and organizations from across Ontario will attend the conference, which brings municipal and provincial officials together as Ontario’s communities continue to face economic uncertainty fueled by the trade and tariff dispute with the United States.
The Ontario Government and municipalities must work together to protect and strengthen our social and economic prosperity. Municipal services and infrastructure underpin Ontario’s competitiveness and must be on strong financial footing.
This year’s event features more than 60 speakers, sessions and workshops, reflecting the broad scope of municipal responsibilities. The Premier, members of cabinet and opposition leaders will all speak, as well as AMO President, Robin Jones.
Key session topics will include affordable housing and growth, homelessness, infrastructure, property reassessment, artificial intelligence, and more. Experts will share insights on the impacts of the trade war and tariffs on municipalities and future opportunities. AMO will also launch its first Indigenous Reconciliation Action Plan.
The Brantford Delegation will also take part in meetings as part of the Ontario Big City Mayors (OBCM) and Mayors and Regional Chairs of Ontario (MARCO) groups, and will meet to delegate on behalf of Brantford with representatives of the Ministries of Infrastructure, Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade, Environment, Conservation and Parks, Children, Community and Social Services, Indigenous Affairs, Health and Sport.
The annual conference is an opportunity for municipal officials to work together on solutions to today’s big challenges, to learn, and to create new opportunities that benefit our communities.
In addition to the conference program, municipal staff and officials will take part in hundreds of municipal delegation meetings with provincial ministries.
