Toronto Maple Leafs took advantage of a rough outing by Brantford Red Sox pitchers on their way to a 15-2 victory on Friday, June 20, 2025.
Nicholai Arbach got the start for the Sox and had a quick first inning, setting down the Leafs in order while striking out two. Leafs SP Wilgenis Alvarado matched Arbach’s strong start, striking out two Red Sox hitters while facing the minimum three batters.

The Maple Leafs opened the scoring in the second inning, getting three singles to take a 2-0 lead early. Brantford tried to respond but went down in order to end the second. Arbach kept the Leafs at bay over the next two innings and, in the bottom of the fourth, Brantford got on the board. Red Sox CF Ethan Paulos led off the fourth with a single, which was followed by a double from 2B Lucas Bateman and a sacrifice fly from DH Christian Ortega.

Toronto took over the game in the top of the fifth, touching up Arbach for four runs, highlighted by a three-run home run off the bat of Leafs SS Rando Moreno. Arbach survived the inning, going five innings, allowing six earned runs on seven hits, while striking out two.

The Maple Leafs continued to take it to Brantford’s pitching, roughing up the Red Sox relievers for seven runs in the sixth inning and another two in the seventh inning to take a commanding 15-1 lead. Red Sox RP Jorge De la Cruz came on in relief, pitching two innings, striking out five while only walking one but the Maple Leafs easily held on for the 15-2 victory.
