Northern Lights shine down on southern Ontario

Local NewsNorthern Lights shine down on southern Ontario

The northern lights lit up parts of southern Ontario on Thursday, October 10, 2024.

Due to a geomagnetic storm, the northern lights, or Aurora Borealis, were visible around parts of southern Ontario, including Paris, late Thursday evening.

Aurora Borealis is caused by solar particles that are flung from the sun toward the Earth by an explosion of energy on the sun’s surface called a coronal mass ejection.

Thank you to Delaney Warriner for providing the photos of the Northern Lights taken in Paris, Ontario at approximately 8:30 p.m. on Thursday.
