A Brantford resident is facing charges following a traffic stop on Colborne Street East.

A member of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Brant Detachment, initiated a traffic stop with a passenger vehicle after it was found speeding on Colborne Street East in Brant County at approximately 8:20 a.m. on Thursday, August 29, 2024.

While speaking to the driver, the investigating officer observed signs of intoxication and a roadside approved screening device (ASD) test was administered, registering a failure. The driver was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Haldimand Detachment for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, Noel BOMBERRY, a 28-year-old from Brantford was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Operation while prohibited under the Criminal Code
  • Speeding 1-49 km/h over posted limit
  • Novice driver – blood alcohol concentration above zero

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a 45-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Brantford on September 12, 2024.
