Brantford woman becomes instant millionaire

Local NewsBrantford woman becomes instant millionaire

Karen Carmichael of Brantford won a $1 million top prize with the INSTANT MAJESTIC scratch ticket.

Carmichael, a retiree, has been playing the lottery for about ten years. When she purchased her first ticket, she won $100 and decided to play again.

“I was watching TV while scratching my ticket,” she recounted, while picking up her windfall at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto. “The last number I revealed was 13 and it matched my Lucky Number! I kept looking around the room and thought, ‘I need to go to the store!’”

Excited to share the news of her win, Carmichael called her best friend.

“She started crying and laughing! She was so thrilled for me. Her daughter picked up the phone and asked, ‘What? Did Karen win a million dollars?’ We all had a good laugh. I think she may have been even happier than I was,” she said.

Carmichael plans to buy a new vehicle, invest for her future, and share this win with her children.

The winning ticket was purchased at Circle K on Erie Avenue in Brantford.
