Brantford resident charged with shoplifting

On Wednesday, November 10, 2021, at approximately 5:00 p.m., officers with the Brantford Police Service received a report of shoplifting at a grocery store located at King George Road near Powerline Road. 
Officers arrived on scene and received information that a female had selected a grocery cart full of items and concealed additional items (valued at approximately $500) in her purse. After attempting to leave the store without paying for the items, the accused was confronted by store security. The accused then left the cart of unpaid items in the store and fled the scene in a vehicle, with the additional stolen items still concealed within her purse.
Police located the vehicle with the accused still inside. The accused was arrested. The other occupant of the vehicle was found to be in violation of a valid probation order and was also arrested.
 During a search incident to arrest, police located the stolen items.
As a result, a 26-year-old female of Brantford stands charged with the offence of Theft Under $5000 contrary to section the Criminal Code. 
Additionally, a 40-year-old male of Brantford, stands charged with failure to comply with judicial release under the Criminal Code and was held for bail.
