Brant OPP charge one person in relation to bank fraud

Brant OPPBrant OPP charge one person in relation to bank fraud

Members of the Brant County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to investigate fraudulent activity at a business on Grand River Street in Paris at approximately 11:06 a.m. on Thursday, April 18, 2024.

Members of the business advised the OPP that an individual had attended the financial institution to open an account. Upon request for identification documents, the complainant suspected that the documents provided were fraudulent.

Upon investigation, police have arrested and charged 48-year-old, Mathew LAIR, from Peterborough with the following offences:

–      Possession of an identity document.

–      Use, deals, acts on forged document.

The accused was released and is to attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Brantford on June 6, 2024, to answer to the charges.
