A Brantford resident is facing charges following a traffic stop on Mount Pleasant Road. 

A member of the Brant Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was conducting radar enforcement on Mount Pleasant Road at approximately 3:35 p.m. on Friday, March 22, 2024.

The officer observed a motor vehicle travelling at 97km/h in a posted 40km/h Community Safety Zone. It’s noteworthy that this occurred less than half an hour after local children were dismissed from school.

As a result of the traffic stop, a 22-year-old of Brantford has been charged under the Highway Traffic Act with:

–      Drive Motor Vehicle – Perform Stunt – Excessive Speed

–      Speeding 50+ km/h Over Posted Speed Limit

–      Operate a Motor Vehicle without Insurance

–      Drive Motor Vehicle, no Currently Validated Permit

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brantford on May 23, 2024, to answer to the charges.
