Paris resident facing charges after barricading themselves in building

Brant OPPParis resident facing charges after barricading themselves in building

Members of the Brant County detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), West Region Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU), West Region Emergency Response Team (ERT), Crisis Negotiators, Canine, and Paramedics were on scene of a barricaded person incident in the town of Paris.

OPP officers responded to a disturbance that took place at a residential building located on Grand River Street North at approximately 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, November 29, 2023.

The involved individual initially refused to exit the residence but was eventually apprehended by police.

On November 30, 2023, at approximately 7:50 a.m., a 39-year-old resident from Paris was transported to hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

The accused remains in custody facing criminal charges.

Grand River Street in Paris has since re-opened for public access.  

This is an ongoing investigation and further information will be provided as it becomes available.
