Brant OPPBrant OPP charge Hamilton man after RIDE checkpoint

A 41-year-old from Hamilton is facing charges after Brant County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) members conducted a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) checkpoint in the County of Brant early Wednesday morning.

Officers with the Brant County OPP had an interaction with the driver of a vehicle that had entered their RIDE checkpoint on King Edward Street near Bishopsgate Road at approximately 12:43 a.m. on Wednesday June 21, 2023.

One person was arrested and transported to Brant County detachment for testing.

Police have charged 41-year-old Stewart JONES, from Hamilton with the following offences:

·        Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus),

·        Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs,

·        Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available and

·        Driving motor vehicle with liquor readily available.

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice located in Brantford, Ontario at a later date.
