51-year-old man charged with Assault

Officers with the Brantford Police Service responded to a report of a physical altercation at a location near Dalhousie Street and King Street at approximately 10:45 a.m. on Saturday, January 22.
Witnesses observed an interaction between a 23-year-old female (victim) and a 51-year-old male (accused).  
The accused was reported to have been on foot when he allegedly reached into the victim’s vehicle to assault her. Witnesses were reported to have temporarily restrained the accused to prevent further injury to the victim while waiting for police arrival.
Police attended the scene and located the accused, who was now within his vehicle. The accused was arrested and charged with assault.
Further findings revealed that the accused had cannabis readily available to himself while in the vehicle.
As a result of the investigation, a 51-year-old man from Brantford, stands charged with: 
  • Assault, contrary to the Criminal Code  
  • Have Care or Control of Vehicle with Cannabis Readily Available, contrary to the Cannabis Control Act
