Brant OPP18-year-old charged after motorcycle collision

An 18-year-old from Niagara Falls has been arrested after Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Brant County Detachment members responded to a reported collision early Sunday morning.

Brant County OPP responded to a reported single vehicle collision involving a motorcycle on Lost Mile Road in the County of Brant at approximately 1:00 a.m. on Sunday September 17, 2023.

The caller observed a motorcycle in a ditch with a non-responsive person laying nearby and contacted police. Police located the vehicle where one person was arrested and transported to Brant OPP detachment for testing.

Police have charged 18-year-old Nevan Shaun SMITH, from Niagara Falls with the following offences:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus),
  • Drive motor vehicle – no licence,
  • Fail to surrender permit for motor vehicle and
  • Fail to surrender insurance card.

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice located in Brantford, Ontario at a later date.
